Hello from Washington, D.C. everyone! I wanted to post a quick update and say hello to all of my online friends. I’m here representing Central Florida Realty Investors, one of the premier REIA’s in the nation, for “Day on the Hill”. The National Real Estate Investor Association (NaREIA) sponsors this event annually, and it continues to get better each and every year.

During our short time in Washington, we:

  • Meet face to face with your representatives and teach them the importance of real estate investing to the nation’s economy.
  • Hear first-hand updates from Washington insiders about the current state of politics and why it is imperative to be involved, NOW more than ever.
  • Learn the key issues facing real estate investors (including HR 1728, HR 3440), and how to conduct effective meetings with our local, state, and national representatives.
  • Explore legislative trends around the nation as we network with other real estate investors from all over the country.

We arrived on Day 1, and hit the ground running with training sessions to prep us for the following day’s meetings. Our friends at NaREIA schedule appointments for us with our representatives, and sometimes our time together may be as short as 15 minutes, so proper planning is essential. On Day 2, we wake up early, finish any last minute preparations, and then go to the Hill to begin the meetings.

I’ll post more details and a recap after my return. For today, I want to pose a question to you: What could YOU do to make a small difference in legislative issues? I look forward to seeing your ideas and replies. Until next time, happy investing!
